Our annual Spring Fest/Pascua Juvenil was a great success this year. The youth gathered at Judge Memorial High School for a day of fun, faith and festivities that built community and allowed participants to meet others from around the diocese. In the late afternoon I joined the gathering for Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church next door. It was a vibrant liturgy with great music directed by the Jesus Amigos, led Gerado Mascorro. I was impressed with the reverence of the young people during the Mass and with their answers to my questions during the homily. Closing the evening was a concert by the MarySusanJames The Band. Many thanks to Matt Boerke, Maria de la Cruz and the youth and young adult volunteers for their fine work. It is vital that we minister to our youth: they are not simply the Church of the future; they are part of the Church of today.
