Bishop Oscar A. Solis blesses the new statue of Saint Joseph at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church following the 11 a.m. Mass on Jan. 7. Fr. Stephen Tilley, pastor, said that after the Year of St. Joseph ended in 2021, several parishioners requested that the parish obtain a depiction of Jesus’ foster father to place in the church. After praying about it, Fr. Tilley wanted to put the statue with the church’s existing statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus to create a representation of the Holy Family. The parish contacted the artist Warren Archer to sculpt the St. Joseph statue. Archer was present at the Jan. 7 Mass at which the statue was blessed. Courtesy photo/Liz Canto
