Bishop of Salt Lake City

I very much enjoyed my meeting last week at St. Patrick Seminary in California as a member of the Board of Trustees. The board is ably led by my predecessor, Archbishop George Niederauer. It is always good to see him and he extends his best wishes to all of us in his former diocese. St. Patrick Seminary, along with Mt. Angel in Oregon, is one of the two main seminaries we use for our seminarians. We do not have any seminarians there at present but as our seminarians increase in number our diocese will once again be represented in Menlo Park. Many of our priests over the years were formed at St. Patrick Seminary, from Msgr. Winterer to Father Sam Dinsdale, most recently. We are blessed to have such fine seminaries serving the needs of the dioceses in the West. Since Msgr. Fitzgerald serves as president of the Board of Trustees at Mt. Angel, our diocese is doing its part to support both institutions!
