St. Patrick's Day parade

Many thanks to John Welsh and his coordinators who once again produced a marvelous St. Patrick Day parade here in Salt Lake City last Saturday, March 12. There were thousands of people participating in the parade and thousands more who enjoyed watching it. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Irish and those who were Irish for a day to come together and celebrate the rich Irish culture in our state. I enjoyed watching the participants as I waved to them when they passed by. Our Church in the United States has benefited greatly from Irish missionaries who have spent their entire lives bringing Christ's sacraments to us. In our own Diocese of Salt Lake City, we have a rich legacy of Irish priests and sisters who have spread and continue to spread the Gospel in our midst. Let us remember them all as we celebrate St. Patrick Day this year, asking that this great saint intercede for us now and always.
