Bishop of Salt Lake City

On May 14th I had an interesting meeting with Sister Chris Maggi, DC, who is the regional representative of the Daughters of Charity. She is newly appointed and took the occasion to say hello to me while visiting the Daughters of Charity in our diocese. Sister’s role includes supporting her order’s sisters in their various assignments throughout the region of which Utah is a part. Through her visits, she gets an up-close view of what the sisters are doing in their ministries and offers whatever encouragement she can. She is a very sensitive and caring individual and I’m pleased that our sisters have such a splendid representative.

I am pleased for the opportunity to thank our Daughters of Charity for all they do in our diocese.  Sr. Stella Marie Zahner, DC, and Sister Cecilia Van Zandt, DC, work with our school scholarship program and are absolutely incredible in the way they get to know the students and their families. Sister Germaine Sarrazin, DC, is the spiritual moderator for the Ladies of Charity in our diocese, who bring food to the needy, run a food pantry and also provide other services to the poor or those temporarily in need. They also make available food, furniture and clothing from the Center of Hope in North Salt Lake. We are truly blessed to have such splendid Daughters of Charity working in our midst and I thank all three of them most sincerely.
