The 25th annual Ecumenical Stations of the Cross took place Good Friday, March 21, beginning and ending at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Above, at left, Pastor Michael Imperiale, pastor of First Presbyterian Church and the Very Rev. Joseph Mayo, rector of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, welcome the crowd of more than 300 people to the stations that wound through downtown Salt Lake City from church to church. Above, center, participants carry a wooden cross from the first station at the Cathedral of the Madeleine to the second station at First Presbyterian Church. At right, the crowd participates in the second station. From there, the stations went to Crossroads Urban Center, Central Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral. The Ecumenical Stations of the Cross are sponsored by the Salt Lake City Council of Churches as a public witness to what Christians believe to be the most decisive event in history.
