SAINT GEORGE — Thomas J. Madden, 76, passed away Dec. 16, 2012, from cancer. Madden was born June 9, 1936, to Eva and George Madden and raised in New York City. He attended the parochial schools of Holy Cross grammar, graduating from St. Ann’s Academy High School, after which he served three years in the New York Army National Guard before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After having been awarded numerous decorations and citations over the years, Madden retired as a senior master sergeant, air traffic control superintendent. Madden married Lenore, July 7, 2001. Both active members of St. George Catholic Church, they had the beautiful wedding Mass. Soon after, Tom and Lenore answered their callings and served continually as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Madden also served in various capacities with the church, including the finance and building fund committees. Madden is survived by sons Tom, Chris, Mark and Dan; daughter Teresa; adopted son Stephen; stepchildren Tanya, George, Greg, Alex, Tall Malysheff, Derek and Adam; 22 grand-children; four great-grandchildren, sisters Rita Giombetti and Frances McGrath. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint George Catholic Church.
