Walter Dean Brown (Braun) passed away on Sept. 14, 2017 at the Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City. He was born on July 2, 1933 in Morristown, S.D., the son of Henry and Katherine Dieterich Brown (Braun). He graduated from Lemmon High School in Lemmon, S.D., in 1951.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.

Walter married Arlene Faye Cline in St. Peter Catholic Church in Wibaux, Mont., on Oct. 29, 1960. They had three children: Allen Brown, Ogden; Tim Braun, Calif.; and Cindy Mangan (Patrick – deceased).

He was a charter member of St. James the Just Catholic Church in Ogden.

Walter worked as a painter for 40 years, retiring from the Building and Grounds Department at Weber State in 1995, after working for several local painting contractors.

He coached the North Ogden 4th Ward Little League Baseball Team for five years.

Walter is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons Allen and Tim; daughter Cindy; sister Beverline Steiner of Boise, Ind.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Funeral services were held Oct. 9 at St. James the Just Catholic Church; interment was at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bluffdale. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
