LA SAL — Sacred Heart Mission on Highway 46 in La Sal isn’t the kind of church the boys from Los Angeles are accustomed to: It is a one-room cement building smaller than most fast-food restaurants, with no stained-glass windows or organ. Outside is an irrigated field; the La Sal mountains loom in the background.

Reflecting on the Gospel readings for the first week of Easter, I realize that I identify with the disciples whose lives are told in those accounts.
At Easter was the story of Mary Magdalene, who on the first day of the week goes to the tomb where her Lord was buried. Finding it empty, she weeps. Then she sees a man she thinks is the gardener, and asks him if he knows where the body of Jesus has been taken.

LA SAL — La Misión del Sagrado Corazón, localizada en la Autopista 46 en La Sal, no es el tipo de iglesia que los chicos de los Ángeles están acostumbrados a un edificio de cemento con un cuarto más pequeño que un restaurant de comida rápida, sin ventanas decoradas y sin un órgano.
