SALT LAKE CITY — A May 30 prayer vigil outside Senator Orrin Hatch’s Salt Lake City office drew about 200 people, many of whom were Catholic. The vigil was "in support of a fair and humane pathway to citizenship for the 11 million aspiring Americans in our country," according to literature provided at the event. It began at 4:30 p.m. with about 100 people, mostly from the Salt Lake area. Buses arrived later, carrying parishioners from Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Orem and Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish in Logan.

SALT LAKE CITY — Chris Leonard, a 2013 graduate of the University of Utah, will spend the next year as the Dominican volunteer at Saint Catherine of Siena/Newman Center. He currently is employed as a receptionist at the Newman Center; his new job will begin in August.

SANDY — Hanna Jorgensen, an incoming 8th-grade student at Blessed Sacrament School, won first place in the Age 8-11 Drug Awareness and Abuse category from the Utah Knights of Columbus Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest.

OGDEN — With small class sizes, the lowest student:teacher ratio in the state and an emphasis on academics, Saint Joseph High School has had a 100 percent graduation rate for the past few years.
