SALT LAKE CITY - It got a bit messy, but 21 volunteers, including students and family members, from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School helped sort approximately 2,500 pounds of food at the Utah Food Bank Warehouse on March 14.

SALT LAKE CITY — Every year, Saint Vincent de Paul School hosts a one-week "Artist in Residence" program to enlighten its students on a different art medium. This year the students in 1st through 8th grades worked with glass artist Allison Klinger from Western Art Glass.

As I mentioned in a previous column, I understand the efforts of Governor Gary Herbert and some legislators to pass more humane immigration-related legislation during the 2011 Utah Legislative session. However, when states get involved in federal immigration questions, it typically makes matters worse and Utah's H.B. 497 Utah Illegal Immigration Enforcement Act is no exception.

LAYTON — Monsignor Victor G. Bonnell will celebrate his last Mass as pastor on June 19, at Saint Rose of Lima Parish, where he has served for more than 22 years. He will retire and move to Twinsburg, Ohio, with his family, who are already planning a ‘Welcome Back to Cleveland, Uncle Victor’ party. He plans to assist in the local parishes in Cleveland.

KEARNS — Saint Francis Xavier Regional School students watched a live ballet performance, many for the first time, on March 17. Ballet West dancers instructed the students on the origin of ballet and history of the ballet ‘Sleeping Beauty.’
