Bishop Wester offers gratitude to seniors for their service

SALT LAKE CITY — St. Irenaeus once said that "The glory of God is the human person fully alive." I often think of this verse when I see someone who has reached a "venerable, old age." True, one can be fully alive at any age and that certainly is a laudable goal for all of us. >>>

Parish pays tribute to senior for his dedication

BOUNTIFUL — A recent announcement in the Saint Olaf Parish bulletin read that "someone tall and lanky, who seems much younger, would be celebrating his 70th birthday on Jan. 30. He came to the parish in 1979 and is active in many aspects, especially as a lector and lector coordinator. He is awesome to the Saint Olaf Catholic School students."

Senior volunteers are appreciated by community and love what they do

OGDEN — Most of the volunteers at Mount Benedict Monastery are seniors and retired. "They are a great asset to the Monastery," said Benedictine Sister Danile Knight, contact person for the monastery. "They all represent the monastery so well and we just love them. We have about 25 volunteers and we are having a luncheon to thank them on Feb. 18."

Quilter of 30 years is known for donating her handmade works to various Catholic fundraisers

TOOELE — Flora Lawless is known throughout the Diocese of Salt Lake City for her beautiful hand-made quilts. She has made and donated quilts or quilted items for many years for fundraising events for the Saint Marguerite Council of Catholic Women and parish fall festival, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW), the National Council of Catholic Women, Saint Olaf Council of Catholic Women, and Saint Olaf School auctions.
