Monsignor J. Terrence Fitzgerald's Retirement

Most have heard the news that Monsignor Fitzgerald has announced his retirement for later this year. By any standard it is difficult – if not impossible – to measure the contributions Monsignor has made and will continue to make to our diocese. For practically his entire life he has served this local Church and beyond with distinction, selflessness, compassion and vision. His ministry is unparalleled in our time and it reminds me of our founding bishop, whose courage and tireless efforts laid the foundation for the Diocese we call home. >>>

Region XIII Bishops' Retreat

 I was pleased to join my brother bishops in Region XIII for our annual retreat at the Redemptorist Renewal Center in the Picture Rocks area just outside Tucson, Ariz.  There were 14 of us bishops, guided by our retreat director, Father Benedict Groeschel, CFR. >>>

Seminarians

Last October, Father Javier Virgen and I led a pilgrimage to Mexico, where we visited many Marian shrines, including the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was a wonderful chance to pray and reflect on the place of Mary in our lives. Along the way, I met six seminarians who are applying for our diocese. >>>

Advent and Christmas at the Cathedral of the Madeleine

This is my first opportunity to thank, in a public way, the great work of the Cathedral of the Madeleine Choir and the Madeleine Choir School during our holy days of Advent and Christmas. >>>

Diocesan Development Drive
