Sacred Grounds has become a gathering place

DRAPER — Sacred Grounds is a coffee shop, an ice cream parlor, and a great place for lunch. But it has become more, it is a gathering place for students, parishioners, community members, businessmen and women, and passers-by. The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. It is off the beaten path in a setting which is out of the rapidly growing hustle and bustle of Draper City.

KEARNS — The St. Francis Xavier Regional pre-school and pre-kindergarten students learned about the first Thanksgiving held in Plymouth, Mass., in 1621, by preparing and celebrating a feast of their own Nov. 22.

Cosgriff students distribute food for Thanksgiving

SALT LAKE CITY — J. E. Cosgriff Memorial School held their annual food drive to collect food for less fortunate families in St. Patrick Parish, Salt Lake City. Each class brought non perishable food to fill 45 gift boxes with the basic items for a Thanksgiving feast. Each classroom also decorated the gift boxes and made Thanksgiving cards for the parishioners at St. Patrick Parish.

SALT LAKE CITY — El largo pasillo afuera de la oficina del Cónsul Mexicano Salvador Jiménez Muñoz presume un banco de ordenadores conectadas no hace mucho tiempo con el fin de facilitar la expedición de credenciales de identificación oficial a los inmigrantes mexicanos que llegan a Utah y a la Región Occidental. Jiménez supervisa el proyecto, chequeando regularmente con los técnicos en computación y visitando periódicamente la aún mas grande sala de espera abarrotada con inmigrantes recién llegados de México que tienen la esperanza de probar el Sueño Americano.

SALT LAKE CITY — Cuando ya se ha publicado la presente edición habrán pasado casi 300 días sin que la Diócesis de Salt Lake City tenga un obispo, aproximadamente diez meses. Sin ahondar muy profundamente en una metáfora de un embarazo largo, es bueno recordar que nosotros los Católicos somos un pueblo de Adviento. Estamos acostumbrados a esperar – a esperar paciente y devotamente.

SALT LAKE CITY — «Donec formetur Christus in vobis» – «Que Cristo sea formado en ustedes» – es el tema para el curso de estudios que los sacerdotes siguen antes de ordenarse. Este pasado mes de mayo, la Diócesis de Salt Lake City ordenó a cuatro sacerdotes, la ordenación en una misma ceremonia más grande de sacerdotes en por lo menos 50 años. El próximo año, la diócesis espera ordenar al sacerdocio dos hombres más en la Catedral de la Magdalena, primero Dios, bajo la dirección del noveno obispo de Salt Lake City.

BALTIMORE – The stones of the newly-renovated Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore, rededicated just the day before, spoke to members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) today as they undertook, during their annual fall meeting, the restructuring of the conference.
