On Nov. 12, the Juan Diego Catholic High School football team triumphed in the 3A 2016 UHSAA State Football Championship, defeating Delta High School 35-21 in the final game

Juan Diego Catholic High School had an outstanding fall sports season, with state championships in football (see story, below), golf (see story p. 8) and girls’ soccer, while Judge Memorial CHS qualified at the state level in girls’ tennis and boys’ golf. In addition, Saint Joseph CHS teams advanced to the state tournaments in baseball, volleyball and soccer, while in cross country, senior Meghann Clare placed 5th overall. Several members of the Jayhawks girls tennis team competed in the state finals as well.

Five years ago Mia Peterson was born with a heart abnormality that led her to stay at Primary Children’s Hospital intensive care unit for open heart surgery. She had a successful recovery, and this year will mark the fourth year that her extended family has participated in the Festival of Trees as a way to show their gratitude.
