The three Utah Catholic high schools each played well in regional volleyball competition in their designated classifications, with St. Joseph and Juan Diego advancing to the state playoffs. Meanwhile, the Judge Memorial Catholic High School football team advanced to the state playoffs, but lost in the opening round.

The Dominican community at Saint Catherine of Siena Newman Center in Salt Lake City marked the 800 anniversary of their order’s founding with a Dominican Rite Mass on Nov. 8, followed the next night with a special presentation on Dominican charisms by Fr. Serge Propst, a member of the Dominican Preaching band. Other special speakers will be brought in throughout the year, said Dominican Father Peter Hannah, the parish’s associate pastor, who presided at the Mass.

Holy Cross Ministries counselors have begun to implement a new school-wide curriculum at St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Andrew and St. Francis Xavier schools in the Diocese of Salt Lake City to help the students create a sense of community.
“Building our school community, brick by brick” is a program established in the four schools by Katie Simpson, a HCM intern and master of social work student at the University of Utah.
