I was taken aback recently when a sixth-grader from our parish school told me as he left the church with his classmates after a school Mass that he thought the Mass that day was “fun.” I tried to interpret this in benign terms, thinking that the young man’s liturgical vocabulary was still underdeveloped. Yet, I still wince at the thought that Mass is “fun.”

Durante los preparativos para el funeral de un ser querido “una de las cosas más importantes para los Católicos es el hermoso regalo de la Misa que se ofrece por el ser querido que falleció”, dijo el Padre Andrew Skrzpiec, párroco de la iglesia de Saint Ambrose. La Misa fúnebre es un regalo especial que refleja “la salvación de Cristo ofrecida en ese momento a esa persona y a todos los que los apoyamos con nuestro amor, nuestra presencia y nuestras oraciones”.
