SALT LAKE CITY — The yellow balloons and big bow appeared celebratory, and indeed, Kimberly Evans would have turned 27 on Sept. 24 – the day that J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School honored her life by dedicating a bench in the pre-school playground where “Miss Kim” brought her students. However, the celebration was a memorial rather than a party for the well-loved teacher who lost her life on June 26 when she fell while hiking in Bell Canyon.

OGDEN — Holy Family Parish youth walked in the shoes of the poor for 24 hours by going without food and sleeping outside on the parish lawn Oct. 1-25 to raise funds for Catholic Community Services Food Bank in Ogden. The 13- to 17- year-olds ingested only water, juice and broth and slept in tents made out of cardboard boxes.

SALT LAKE CITY – Eunice Kennedy Shriver was honored Sept. 25 throughout the United States as the founder of Special Olympics, Community of Caring, a Best Buddies International board member and champion of all people with intellectual disabilities. Schools across the United States honored her legacy during the week of Sept. 20-24.
